Alongside his positions at ArcelorMittal and the World Business Council of Sustainable Development, Bruno Lafont also is a Board Member of EDF Energy and holds the Chairmanship of the Sustainable Development Commission of Movement of the Enterprises of France (MEDEF), the French employers’ association.
Mr Lafont has had a long career in the cement group Lafarge, starting in 1983 and has held numerous positions in finance and international operations. In 1995, Mr Lafont was appointed Group Executive Vice-President, Finance, then Executive Vice- President of the Gypsum Division in 1998. Mr Lafont joined the LafargeHolcim Group’s General Management as Chief Operating Officer, a position he held from May 2003 and December 2005. He became Chief Executive Officer in January 2006, and was appointed Chairman and Chief Executive Officer in May 2007. He held the Co-Chairmanship of the LafargeHolcim Group up until 2017.
Born in 1956, Bruno Lafont is a graduate from the Hautes Etudes Commerciales business school (HEC 1977, Paris) and the Ecole Nationale d’Administration (ENA 1982, Paris).
