On 9 December, i24c organised a breakfast debate in the European Parliament on the topic of “Does the EU Need an Industrial Policy Focused on Innovation?” in the context of the 7th European Innovation Summit organised by Knowledge for Innovation (K4I).
The session was hosted by MEP Marian-Jean Marinescu and had the following speakers:

This breakfast-debate provided an opportunity to the various speakers to reiterate the need for the European Union to adopt a forward-looking industrial strategy aiming to leverage the power of systemic innovation to reconcile decarbonisation and industrial success in a changing world economy.
On the same day, i24c Executive Director Martin Porter provided input to a session on “Innovation Ecosystems : Working across sectors”. He reiterated the need for Europe to adopt a strategy for its industries which are facing an innovation imperative. He also outlined what i24c sees as the key factors for developing successful industrial ecosystems in Europe, with a focus on critical mass, orchestration and the need to solve grand societal challenges such as climate change.
